Alex Pettyfer And Gabriella Wilde Feel Sting Of 'Endless Love' In First Trailer

The pair stars in the new film about young love and everything that can get in its way.
It’s nice to hear a story of “Boy meets girl; boy and girl live happily ever after,” but real life — and the movies, for that matter — is never that simple.

Such is the case with “Endless Love,” the new adaptation of Scott Spencer’s book starring Alex Pettyfer, most recently seen in “Magic Mike,” and Gabriella Wilde, who will appear next in the “Carrie” remake with Chloe Grace Moretz.

Endless Love” tells the story of Jade and David, who meet one summer and fall in love rather quickly. This comes as distressing news to Jade’s father, played by Bruce Greenwod. He is suspicious of David and launches an investigation into his past, which by the looks of the trailer is at least a little checkered.

You’ll now be able to get your first look at “Endless Love” because MTV News has your exclusive first look at the trailer, which begins like any other romance movie but quickly devolves into something much more dark and complex.

We we get to see a little more of David’s previous run-ins with the law, hinted at by his willingness to “borrow” a car from the country club where he works. The back end of the preview teases some of the darkness that was very much present in the original Spencer novel.

“Endless Love” was previously adapted in the 1981 with Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt in the lead roles. That film was notable in part because it marked the first feature film appearance by a young Tom Cruise. James Spader co-starred.

“Endless Love” opens in theaters on February 14.

Alex Pettyfer to Play Gay Action Hero in New Lee Daniels Film

After finding massive critical acclaim and box office success for the historical drama The Butler, Lee Daniels is going another direction entirely.

The openly gay director told Out magazine that he’s attached Alex Pettyfer to an “interracial love affair action movie” he’s planning, centered around an interracial gay couple.

The Ambiguously Gay Duo this is not.

Daniels described the untitled flick as a gay “Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but [with] the two good-looking guys as the action heroes.”

The filmmaker, who produced Monster’s Ball before hitting it big as a helmer with 2009’s Precious, for which he received an Oscar nomination for directing, added that he’s still searching for a handsome African-American actor to play opposite the Magic Mike star. But he’s absolutely psyched to have Pettyfer aboard.

“He’s so hot, isn’t he? So hot. And so aware of his hotness in a way that’s so…I love him to death,” he said.
There is a twist however, Daniels told the magazine: “We don’t find out they’re gay until the end of the movie.”
(Or unless the flick’s mastermind divulges said info to a news outlet, but never mind.)

As for how he’s going to persuade Hollywood to give him the funds to fulfill his ambition, Daniels wasn’t sweating it.
“I don’t think I’m going to have a problem now. I made $100 million for The Butler. I’m in a rare group. So this is something I feel good about.”

And with gay marriage becoming the norm, we’d say a movie like this is about time.

Rumor: Alex up for Star Wars: Episode VIII?

MAGIC MIKE’s Alex Pettyfer and PETER PAN’s Rachel Hurd-Wood may be prepping to travel to a galaxy far, far away. If they get the parts.

According to the usually spot-on Latino Review, the pair have been brought in by Disney to read for the lead roles in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, set to be directed by J.J. Abrams with a script by Michael Arndt.

The publication speculates that Hurd-Wood would play the daughter of Princess Leia and Han Solo. Additional actresses will also be vying for the part, representatives for the film have made clear.

The report notes that Pettyfer may be in talks to take on the role of Luke Skywalker’s son – though sources wouldn’t confirm. Ryan Gosling was originally approached, though reportedly turned it down.

As previously reported, the film may have been bumped to December 2015 from its expected (though unconfirmed) May release.

The first film in the series was originally released on May 25, 1977, under the title Star Wars, by 20th Century Fox, and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, followed by two sequels, released at three-year intervals. Sixteen years after the release of the trilogy’s final film, the first in a new prequel trilogy of films was released.

The three prequel films were also released at three-year intervals, with the final film of the trilogy released on May 19, 2005. In October 2012, The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion and announced that it would produce three new films, with the first film, Star Wars Episode VII, planned for release in 2015. 20th Century Fox still retains the distribution rights to the first two Star Wars trilogies, owning permanent rights for the original film Episode IV: A New Hope, while holding the rights to Episodes I-III, V and VI until May 2020.

Reactions to the original trilogy were mostly positive, with the last film being considered the weakest, while the prequel trilogy received a more mixed reaction, with most of the praise being for the final movie, according to most review aggregator websites. All six of the main films in the series were also nominated for or won Academy Awards.

All of the main films have been box office successes, with the overall box office revenue generated by the Star Wars films (including the theatrical Star Wars: The Clone Wars) totalling $4.49 billion, making it the third-highest-grossing film series. The success has also led to multiple re-releases in theaters for the series.
